Seok-Woo (Gong Yoo) is a fund manager in Seoul. He is separated from his wife and lives with his daughter Soo-An (Kim Soo-Ahn). Seok-Woo doesn’t spend much time with his daughter or show affection to her. On the night before Soo-An’s birthday, Soo-An insists on seeing her mother for her birthday. Seok-Woo has no other choice, but to take her to Busan. Early the next morning, they board the KTX train for Busan at Seoul Station.

Before the KTX train leaves Seoul Station, a zombie like girl jumps onto the train. The girl is infected with a horrific virus that is spreading like wildfire. Seok-Woo, Soo-An and the other passengers on the KTX train must now fight for their lives.

Its a movie which has a father who is accompanying his child to Busan. The mode of transportation they got was the train. While on the train a zombie attack suddenly happened and the whole country is in an uproar. The only place safe is Busan. As this was happening, the father rescued and made sure that his child was safe. At first, the father did not help the other passengers of the train but also he did. In the end, he has saved his child and a pregnant woman from being infected.

I noticed that the zombies were very aggressive. When compared to the walkers in the walking dead, they are scarier and meaner. The cinematography is well done. I like how CGI was used. It did not overwhelm the movie but it was enough for the movie to stand out. The plot seems generic but the drama and lesson of the movie was good. The plot twist was not something I would not think about because of all the action happening. Also, Gong Yoo was still handsome even if he was all tired and dirty fighting zombies(hahaha!).

I was surprised how lively the zombies acted. Their actions were like the titans on attack on titan. The difference is their size and they can’t see in darkness. The ending was quite a shock for me. I was not expecting it. This was maybe because I was hoping too much. As for the animation, it was of high quality. The CGI was good that it was too good to be true. Somehow, I should not be surprised because Goblin had high quality visual effects.

Somehow the details on how the zombie virus was not discussed in detail. Also, it seems that while the person was being transformed into a zombie, precious memories are being replayed in the mind. This was quite confusing because I presumed that being converted was painful. It was not also clear if the mother of Soo-An was infected with the virus.

I learned that different people can react to a life threatening event differently. Some tend to be selfish others become more charitable. They help the people who are more in need to the extent that they suffer. On the other hand, the businessman in the movie used everyone and everything just to survive. This is a very accurate portrayal of how humans are very self centered.

This made me realise that life is too short. It also made me more aware that sometimes in situations where life is concerned a lot of unexpected things can happen. The businessman looked respectable but he just used people in order to survive. A lot of people were turned into zombies because of him. In contrast the man with a pregnant wife was intimidating but he was the most helpful. He saved his wife with the other train passengers because he self sacrificed himself.

This movie was recommended by my sister. She likes weird movies which are sometimes too weird for my taste. However, this recommendation did not disappoint me. It was one of the best zombie movies I have watched. I liked the zombies. They seemed more realistic, just like the ones in the Resident Evil Movies. I gave this movie a 4 hearts rating because I liked the movie but because of the surprise ending, I was devastated. The ending was good but in my opinion it would have been better if it did not happen. However, the ending showed that love for family is really strong. It would take a lot to have that love vanish. Even if this movie was shown last 2016, it still has a lesson that will always be relevant.
