SYNOPSIS: Madison Bolin.. Heiress, philanthropist, beautiful.. DEADLY. She eats people

The main character of the story is Maddie, who is an aswang. An aswang is a  shapeshifting monster usually possessing a combination of the traits of either a vampire, a ghoul, a warlock/witch, or different species of werebeast in Filipino folklore or even all of them together. It is the subject of a wide variety of myths and stories. Spanish colonists noted that the Aswang was the most feared among the mythical creatures of the Philippines, even in the 16th century. (from Wikipedia)

The story has an main character who wishes she could be normal. Normal enough to fall in love and have a family. However, since she is an aswang this would only be a dream. In order to survive, she needs to feed on human flesh once in a while. This flaw makes it hard for her to find true love. Despite her being an aswang, she does not lack in physical beauty, brains and money. On the contrary, being an aswang did not affect her finding love but TRUE love was still elusive. After eating her human-meal, Maddie met Clay.  On different occasions, Maddie and Clay got to know each other. Af first Clay did not know that Maddie was an aswang but it was revealed to him. In the end, Maddie learned to accept who she was and Clay learned to accept what she was.

I gave this story a three hearts rating because Rose Tan had better books. The story’s concept was good and it had promise. The characters were likeable but the ending seemed off, if not rushed. I expected something more of a happy ending, unexpectedly I did not get it.Despite this, I would like to read the second book just to see if the story improved or if it had a happy ending.

Mawawala siya sa mundo pero ang kalikasan ay mananatili. Na-realize din niya, walang pakialam ang kalikasan sa tao. Trabaho ng tao makibagay sa kalikasan.

You don’t hoard money. You make money go round and round.

“Damn! That Clay guy’s gorgeous!” wika ni Madison habang nagmamaneho pauwi.
“Did you see his arms? He’s so solid!”
“Solid is a state of matter that has mass and occupies space,” wika ni Bono.
